Yuugi opened his eyes and blinked. There was a strange noise coming from the direction of the guest room, and last he'd checked -- there had been nobody in there. Groaning, he pulled himself out of bed and looked at his clock. The hands on the Dark Magician clock indicated that it was only nine in the morning, and glared at him, as if he was saying, "Why are you up so early on the weekend?" Yuugi shook his head. He didn't know why either.
There. He heard the noise again. Yuugi decided to check it out. There was no harm anyway, unless some ghost had taken up resident in the guest room.
Noa shifted in the bed again, the sheets curled around him as if he had been tossing and turning. The bed creaked, and he mumbled, his hair wild, and his body obviously telling him that he needed more sleep, even though he was trying to wake up.
When Yuugi got close enough, he realised what he had heard was the familiar sound that the bed always made when someone slept or even sat on it. "There shouldn't be anyone sleeping in there," he whispered to himself softy, "which doesn't explain why the bed is creaking." Taking a deep breath, Yuugi pushed open the door slightly, wincing when the door bumped into an item that had been carelessly thrown to the floor.
Noa awoke with a start, his heart racing, pulling the covers up so that only the top of his head and his blue eyes peeked out.
Yuugi peeked into the room, but all that he saw were the blue eyes. Blue eyes that were very, very familiar, and subconsciously, he began to feel afraid. But that didn't stop him from whispering an apology, and wondering who the person in the bed was.
He blinked. "Y... Yuugi?" He muttered, lowering the sheets. "Good, it's not... the scary other you."
Yuugi blinked as the blankets lowered. "You are... are..." Yuugi racked his memory for a name, and finally came up with it. "Noa? Noa Kaiba?" Yuugi cocked his head to one side, and stared at the figure on the bed thoughtfully. "Last we saw you... you were..." Yuugi frowned. Things didn't make sense... He didn't like it when everything was like this. "And what do you mean... scary other me? Mou hitori no boku?"
"I... I suppose. But I think he was high on something..." He shook, biting his lip. "And yes, that's me. And I was dead, yes."
"High on something," Yuugi repeated, then it clicked. "Oh Ra! Which mou hitori no boku was it?" Yuugi approached the bed slowly, quietly. "Are you hurt in anyway, Noa?"
"...There's more than one? And... no. Just very very scared."
Yuugi winced, and tried to ignore the 'more than one comment'. "That's good," he remarked, trying to be cheerful. "At least... at least he didn't hurt you." Closing his eyes, Yuugi thought. I have to find a place to store all of those things. I have to.
"...He tried." The boy stiffened at the memory. "He did try."
Yuugi opened his eyes painfully. "He... tried."The boy placed one hand on his forehead, wrapped the other arm around himself, and took a deep breath. "I'm... I'm sorry."
"It's... all right. Did I... wake you? I'm sorry."
Yuugi shook his head, and took another deep breath. "No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's my fault... It's my fault..."
"It's not your fault. Come on... sit down. You look... well, really scared." The other boy smiled softly.
"No, you don't understand. It's my fault! Mou hitori no boku keeps... keeps trying to..." Yuugi shook his head.
Noa got out of bed, and put a hand on Yuugi's shoulder. "Calm down..."
Yuugi looked at Noa, trying to hold back his tears. "I'm... sorry. I didn't mean to... I didn't mean to wake you up... And..." Yuugi looked away. "I... I can help you with... with mou hitori no boku." It's my fault he tried to. It's mine. Because I never reacted to his advances...
"Yuugi.." He took his hand away. "It's not your fault. I kicked him, in any case."
"You..." Yuugi twitched, then laughed childishly. "Where? Hard?"
"Yeah, fairly hard." Noa laughed. "Right where you think I kicked him."
"Oww," he murmured, wincing slightly. "I supposed... I supposed he deserved it." Yuugi was silent for a while. "I'm sorry for waking you up, and nearly crying on you."
"It's fine... I wanted to get up anyway." He smiled. "Don't worry about it."
"Oh." Yuugi looked around the room for a while. "You want to come with me to get breakfast? I think mou hitori no boku went out..."
"Sure... breakfast would be nice." Noa muttered, as his stomach growled. "Apparently."
Yuugi smiled. "What do you want, Noa?" He paused slightly. "I can call you Noa, right?"
"Of course you can. Umm... how about some cereal..."
"And milk!" Yuugi cried cheerfully. "I'll go get two bowls ready, then. And you can go change into some proper clothes." Yuugi ignored the fact he was also wearing pajamas. He was quite good at it when he wanted to.
"Thank you. Except... I don't have any other clothes, and I think that yours might be too small..."
"There's always... mou hitori no boku's."
"...Yes, but I don't want to go into his room."
"Oh... right." Yuugi nodded. "I'll got get them then."
Noa wandered around, eventually finding the kitchen.
Yuugi, however, had eventually wandered down the corridor, into another room. His other self's room. Yuugi knocked, but there was no sound of movement from inside the room. "He's out," Yuugi whispered gratefully to himself. "That's... good." He pushed the door opened, and rummaged the nearest closet for anything that wasn't leather - he knew mou hitori no boku would react... badly to it if someone else took his leather.
Noa sat down in a chair, waiting for Yuugi to return.
Yuugi came down the stairs, with clothes that he passed to Noa. "Why don't you go change first? I'll set up the food."
Noa nodded, taking the clothes, and heading back upstairs, going back to the room and changing.
Yuugi placed two bowls on the table and opened the cupboard for cereal. He found a opened box of Frosties(TM) and placed it on the table as well. There was silence in the kitchen as Yuugi waited, and he was grateful for that silence. He was relieved he didn't have to smile anymore... that he didn't have to fake it while Noa was upstairs. Mou hitori no boku...
Noa slipped the shirt on, though it was a little on the large size, but still fit him comfortably. The pants fit quite well, however. He came down again, smiling.
Yuugi placed his own bowl into the sink, and rinsed it. He hadn't eaten, but he didn't feel like eating. He couldn't get the guilt off his mind... "There's the cereal. I've eaten already." It was a lie. Yuugi tried to not wince.
Noa looked at Yuugi curiously. "You like them without milk?" He asked.
Yuugi blinked. "Kind... of."
((Tale-chan:[Yuugi's not good at lying! Like Obi-Wan.]))
"And without a spoon. And in that short of a period of time... and with the box closed." Noa shook his head. "What's wrong?"
Yuugi bit his lip. "No, I'm fine. I just don't feel hungry."
"...Are you sick?" Noa asked.
I wished, Yuugi thought. "I... I don't know."
The green-haired boy sighed. "It's not your fault. It's his."
Yuugi stiffened, then turned away.
"Don't blame yourself..."
Yuugi looked back.at Noa expressionlessly "You should eat now. It's already nine-thirty."
Noa nodded, and went over to the refrigerator, and took out some milk, brinking it over to the table, and finding a spoon. "You should, too..." He murmured, opening the box, pouring out the cereal, pouring the milk, and starting to eat.
Yuugi turned and looked out of the window. "Maybe later," he said softly.
"All right... these are very good."
"They're Frosties," Yuugi replied blandly. "They have a lot of sugar in them."
"I can tell." He smiled.
"Noa... How did you come back?" Yuugi asked all of a sudden. He wasn't quite sure why either.
"...The other Yuugi brought me back. With a... questionable Millenium Item."
Yuugi turned back to the window. "Oh."
"...I don't know which I prefer."
"Prefer...?"
