Time to do a bit of exploring. Seto was bored looking at hospital records looking for some kind of conspiracy, and besides, people were saying Siegfried was in the hospital. It was time to see if that was true or just another rumor.
If so, fun, except not. If not, then he would just shuffle back to his room (that or explore a little to find the room where they kept the physical papers of the cases) and await another visit from a doc. How fun that would be.
So. It seemed that things indicated he was in this room. He knocked, opening the door up a crack and peering inside.
Siegfried was lying in his bed, arms crossed, staring up at the ceiling blankly. Evidently he was daydreaming, or thinking very hard, or one of those freaky people who are capable of sleeping with their eyes open. (No, really. All the more love to them.) His lips occasionally moved slightly, as though he were silently mouthing words to himself, even if they didn't matter. He was experiencing sheer boredom, quite obviously, and not enjoying it at all. Feh. He might as well have gotten a doctor to attend to his every need at HOME...but no, the flailing wretches who'd found his injured body had insisted on taking him to an official hospital. What an inconvenience.
Ah, so it seemed the rumors had been true afterall. The door swung open more, Seto taking a more relaxed pose by leaning against the door frame, smirk on his face. "You know, we could've had that chat about Shadow and his apparent new pet name for me here rather than on your journal."
Siegfried blinked, uncrossed his arms, used them to prop himself up, and stared unenthusiastically at his guest. "Well. Kaiba," he said sullenly. "You've found me. How utterly horrific. ...and no, we couldn't've," he added as an afterthought, "Because I specifically requested no visitors."
"Well, not that I knew that," Seto replied with a shrug. "I had heard maybe you were here, so I decided to investigate. Now that I know, I guess I'll just go back to my room, then."
"If you want to," the other said, just managing to stop himself from drawling. "If you must. You'll go be bored however you like to be bored, and I'll stare up at the ceiling blankly for a few more hours until they decide to release me. It's all good."
"...So you're saying you'd rather have some company? Maybe?" He quriked a brow. "I mean, I probably will get bored doing the stuff I'm doing unless I come across something, which I doubt is likely to happen, and you've nothing to do..."
"Mmhm," Siegfried said, expression not changing at all. "I have nothing to do but..." "Think about you", of course. "...mull over the little encounter I had with the idiotic thief dubbed 'Shadow', consider my retribution, invent..."
"I only wish I had had the chance to shoot him first," came the mutter from the doorway. "And he made off with a few unimportant items. Whatever was taken can and probably will be replaced. Still, it's rather...unnerving to think he's still out there and nothing has yet to happen to him."
"It's not like I tried to kill him -- it's not like either of us really MADE an effort to fight him, is it? It's no wonder he's still out there, and frankly, I don't care. However, when he's captured...ah, then I think if you have ever had a vengeful thought in your life, you will know exactly what I am planning. It is sweeter than honey, the deserved revenge..." He slowly grinned. "But right now, Kaiba, perhaps you should sit down; I'm feeling just a little too important, with you having to stand..." He indicated with a nod of his head the large and rather comfortable looking chair next to him. "Normally the idiot sits there," he said, "But he's gone out to eat."
He paused for a moment then moved away from the doorway, letting the door swing shut and seating himself. Seto chuckled. "He actually goes outside and has a diet of things other than bottles of soda and boxes of pizza? I'm surprised."
"No, he has to go home via limo if he wants to get any of his usual fare; here I insist that he consume only organic healthy foods, lest he gain weight. That would be an unforgiveable crime, and I would have to shoot him."
"Ah, I see. Hm." He let his eyes wander, not that there was much to see, as it looked like every OTHER room in this god forsaken hospital. He also wasn't sure of what to say. He hadn't expected to stay for longer than five minutes if he even found the rival anyway.
Siegfried allowed himself to lay down, not caring enough about the formality such a meeting should have required to behave appropriately. "It would be so wretched," he finished, shrugging, and rather hoping this wouldn't be like the discussions they normally had, where absolutely nothing was talked about.
"I suppose it would be," he concluded. "So...anyway, just what is with that nickname thing Shadow's given me? Some fairy tale? I mean, what the hell, I don't even see why I'd be mentioned by him unless he said how bored he was with me."
"Some odd Red Riding Hood thing he made up about the wolf having to shoot the girl because she wouldn't play his game. Shadow would be well-advised, though, to give ME a better nickname that I deserved. As for how it came up..." He yawned. "He was irritated with the way I showed so little fear and admiration, then asked how weak you must've been to fall to him, so he held a knife to my throat and recited that mad little story. Something like that; I really wasn't paying all that much attention," Siegfried lied.
"...Not paying attention--okay, so...you still say you're not psychotic? A madman's about to slit your throat wide open and let you die, and..." Seto shook his head. "Geez, and sometimes I wonder if I'm the masochist around here."
"He wasn't going to slit my throat. He wouldn't've. He made that quite clear, and besides, showing fear would've just encouraged him to do even more things to me, like he did to you. Play your cards right, you get out of these situations easily. Quite clearly, you did not."
"Okay, for one," countered Seto, more than a little annoyed at his attitude, "who said anything about fear? I wasn't a coward. Anyone with a MIND would've been wary of getting shot and/or stabbed by someone who's already put people in the hospital. And two, you still got hurt and ended up here, didn't you? So much for getting out of these situations, hm?"
"Oh, God, I was fiiiiiiine," Siegfried said. "I practically had to push him to even get him to hurt me beyond the knifing. I'm only here to get tested for any diseases that may have been present in the blood of other victims -- he apparently did not clean his knife. Disgusting, really..." He smirked slightly. "Besides, in case you haven't notice, he hasn't killed anyone. I fear only for my life, and I'm not THAT fearful about it, when I know what I'm doing."
"Don't tell me you actually did try to get him to do more." Seto blinked a few times, feeling uneasy. "Because that'd be a might unsettling, you realize, and would only reinforce the idea of mine that you're psychotic."
"No, I merely said with disgust, 'Is that it? Is that all you're going to do to me? God, wait 'til I tell the world how pathetic you really are, under that black cloth and that stupid alias'," he said, again lying. "He seemed to take it as an insult."
"Well, if I was a sadistic madman being called pathetic, I'd take it as an insult, too. Hn. Yep, I still think you're a nutter. Say what you want about him; I still think he's dangerous and not to be messed around with."
"You're pathetic, really," Siegfried said idly. "Even I am capable of being calm in a time of panic -- it's how I took the rapid change in gender I experienced this past month so well, and I'm quite glad that I did, really..." He grinned a semi-grin, which is difficult to describe and is somewhere between a grin and a not-grin.
"You hide your emotions far better than I can, remember. I know if I was turned into a woman, I'd probably be flailing around until I turned back, then be pissy for days afterward. Excuse me if I have a bit of a fear of being killed or worse at the moment." He crossed his arms. "So I assume he was far more amused with you, then. Twisted fuck."
"He actually claimed to like me, if I recall correctly," Siegfried said lazily, "Just like anyone should. He conveniently failed to worship me, but we can't have everything, now, can we? As for becoming a woman...it wasn't that bad at all. Rather nice, actually."
"Why am I not surprised," murmured Seto in response. "All of the psychos here have to stick together, don't they? I do hope you're not going to start going after people and hacking into them, are you? That'd be dreadful."
"No," Siegfried said. "I don't like resorting to physical violence, not when it's brutal like that. However, I have an interesting idea I would like to implement on our knife-happy friend...when we catch him, of course."
"So, you'd rather exact revenge than be buddies with him? That's nice to know. I'd rather be content with seeing him locked in a jail cell or, y'know, a psychiatric ward."
"My dear," said Siegfried, the sarcasm on the last word practically dripping, "You have no idea what constitutes a good retribution, and it truly saddens me."
"I'm not saying I wouldn't also like seeing his head sliced off and stuck on a pike in my front yard or something, but I'd rather never see the guy again, so long as he's off the streets. Hn. I almost wonder if he's interested in striking in the same place twice. Probably not, but you never know...ah well."
"It doesn't really matter," Siegfried said happily. "When they capture him, I get them to turn him over to me so I can play judge, jury, and executioner. If you like, you can assist."
"Oh, and why you, hm? Why not just let the law take care of him?"
"Not as satisfactory, really..."
"Yes, but I still don't see why you aren't just satisfied with him being gone."
"There is no joy in letting the punishment go to others when I could carry it out just as well."
"Hm, yes, and then go to jail yourself. Brilliant, I'm sure."
"I'll get legal permission, or I'll just make sure I get away with it," Siegfried purred. "I'm good at these sorts of things, you know."
"I don't doubt it," he sneered.
He grinned widely. "Good; you realise my talents."
"If that's what you want to call 'talent'."
"It's a talent, no matter how I use it."
"For better or for worse, for good or for evil?"
"Exactly," Siegfried said. "Exactly."
"So I see." He sat back, propping his legs up. "Just as I thought, hn."
"Just as you thought? What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means just what it means."
"And what is that?"
"There's no need for explainations; I felt it rather straightforward."
"Don't make me sit up and stare at you irritably; that would just be inconvenient..."
"It'd also be amusing."
"If I got up, I'd need to do something worth my time. I'm not sure that would be quite as amusing."
"But still amusing anyway."
"It'd end up being amusing to me, but I don't know how it'd turn out for you."
"I don't see why you would bother sitting up anyway. I really had no hidden meaning behind my words this time."
"So that I could get a straight answer about what you thought."
"And I'm saying you'll get no straighter answer."
"I'm not so sure; you've changed your mind before."
"Yes, but not now."
"I don't know about that..."
"No, I suppose you wouldn't, would you."
"No." Siegfried smirked.
"Fun."
"Indeed."
"...Hn."
"Yes."
"So..."
"So...?"
"So...what now?"
"What do you mean, what now?"
"What's next? Some other topic of conversation or something?"
"Perhaps. I'm not sure."
"Hm."
"'Hm' indeed."
"...This is getting ridiculous." Seto stood up, sighing with aggitation. "If there's nothing more to say, then I suppose I ought to leave, then."
"If you must," Siegfried said. "Unless you suddenly spout the ability to be creative in the next few minutes, there's no point to this."
"You can try being creative, too, you know."
"But you don't like my creative ideas."
"Whoever said?"
"You did, I'm pretty sure."
"No, I don't think so."
"I know, however, that you wouldn't like them, so it's all really quite pointless."
"I see. Well, then, this was all rather pointless to begin with, wasn't it?"
"Yes, it was." Siegfried's upper lip twitched slightly.
"Then I do hope we don't cross paths in the near future."
"As do I, O hateful one. As do I."
"Well, then...hn." Seto strode over to the door and flung it open more forcefully than he had intended. "I suppose you won't need to sit up afterall."
"Thankfully, it seems not." Siegfried yawned again. "I couldn't be moved to do so, anyways."
"...Right, then." With that bit of frustration, Seto left. Ah well, finding hidden conspiracies was far more entertaining anyway.
Siegfried merely stared at the ceiling, not caring much about the abscence of his dreaded enemy. After all, he just had a few more hours to stare at the ceiling...only a few more...hours...
