The light from the sun shone through the window of the hospital room and onto Jounouchi's hospital bed, the blond-haired teen sitting upright against the head of the bed, manga in hand. He had bandages wrapped around his torso and he looked quite tired.

Grumbling curses under her breath, Anzu staggered across the hallway of the hospital. Earlier in the evening, the other Jounouchi had visited her. She wanted to wring that wimp's neck. He was a fool to want to see her so frequently. Clutching her stomach, she held onto a wall for support. in another doorway, she spotted...Jounouchi?! He still had most of his hair, so it must've been the non-wussy one.

Jounouchi's eyes moved from the manga to the hallway where he'd heard a 'kla-thunk' against one of the walls. He squinted, making sure he wasn't imagining it. "...Anzu...?" He put the manga down and leaned forward, wincing. "What're you doin' here?"

"What do you think?!" The brunette snapped back. She lifted her shirt, showing the bandages evenloping her midriff. There were several purple spots on her body, thanks to Shadow's attack with the Good Book. "...Oh, good. you're the other Jounouchi. You still have your hair." She sighed in exasperation. "The wimpy one came by to visit earlier."

Jounouchi blinked. This was the mean Anzu, obviously. "Damn, what'd he do to you? Beat you with a Bible?" He laughed to himself, finding his joke amusing, even though he didn't know he was right. "And hey, don't call onii-chan that! That ain't very nice, y'know."

"As a matter of fact, YES!" Anzu retorted. "Rather ironic, I know..." She clenched her fist furiously. "I can't help it if your 'little brother' is wimpy..." Anzu turned her head haughtily. If the mutt was friends with the bitch, she didn't want to associate with him.

A blink from Jou. "Whoa. Really? Hah..." He frowned at Anzu's comment. "Okay, maybe he's a bit, y'know, softer than me... but whatcha gonna do? He's my other self, I have to take care of him."

There was a short minute of silence as Anzu looked away and Jounouchi looked at Anzu. "So... how've you been, anyway?" He asked, deciding to leave the previous subject. "I haven't seen you in forever, even if you're, y'know, not... really... you...?"

"Juuuuuust peachy," replied Anzu. Her blue eyes narrowed. "I dropped out of school, seeing as I wasn't all that interested in the theory of evolution, to say the least--though I now stress the importance of reading, since I want to learn all the words in the Bible... I got a new apartment with a crappy roommate... Well, I guess I'd have to give her credit for calling the hospital for me..." She growled, thinking of what else to say. "...And now, I'm here, talking to you. I'm surprised you or anyone can put up with your other self's crying."

Anzu's thoughts snapped. "Wh... what do you mean, 'not really me'?! I'm the only me there is!"

Well, this was awkward. He wasn't sure if he liked this Anzu much. "U-uh... that's... you... I... I mean..." He didn't know what to say to her; this was really odd. She wasn't the Anzu he'd been friends with, was she? Jounouchi rubbed his eyes, hoping to ease his confusion. "Nevermind."

Sneering at Jou, Anzu said, "Well, it was nice meeting you, I guess. I hope you won't be as sinful as the rest of the gays that the other you hangs out with." She turned to walk back to her room, before the nurses caught her. "Just be brepared to hear a blubbery sob story from Jou. He was crying before." With that, Anzu staggered back down the corridor.

Jounouchi sat, bewildered, staring at the spot where Anzu had just stood. "What in the heck..." He couldn't imagine Anzu ever acting like that. Ever. Deciding to drop the thought, he shook his head and picked his manga back up.

Katsuya wiped his eyes and strode morosely down the hall. He hadn't seen Honda in days. Katsuya guessed that Honda didn't want to see him anymore, since Honda rebuffed Katsuya's feelings earlier in the week. Not only that, Anzu yelled and swore at him again before he could give her a get well card. It seemed as if no one wanted to accept love from Katsuya anymore.

Jounouchi saw a familiar blond head pass by his door over the top of the manga and he looked up just as they walked by. He sat up straight. "Oi! Onii-chan!" He waved an arm and winced right away, pulling it back in. "Ow. In here!"

As soon as he heard the familiar voice, Katsuya made a halt and turned his attention to Jounouchi. "J-Jou-kun...?" He timidly entered the doorway. "Hi, onii-chan..." Katsuya studied his other self's injuries. "...At least you're all right," he reassured his 'older brother' "Are you...?" Katsuya put a fist to his chin. The tears in his eyes threatened to return.

"Hey, don't start crying," Jounouchi said, eyes widening. "I'm okay, really. Don't worry, all right?" He smiled and poked himself in the side - which wasn't the smartest idea, considering he winced at the touch - to show he was okay.

Katsuya's couldn't get rid of that sting in his eyes. "...I'm very glad you're okay... I did want to see you today..." He began to breathe heavily. "It...it's just that..." Katsuya sniffled. "M-my h-heart's broken..."

Jou blinked. "Wha? What happened?" He pushed himself over to the right side of the bed and motioned for Katsuya to sit down. "Did something happen between you and Honda?"

Katsuya sat where instructed and hung his head low. Tears fell down his face. "H-he... I... t-told him how I felt..." Torrents now flowed from his amber brown eyes. "H-Honda said... that I... deserve better than him... and... he... just left..." Katsuya lowered his head down to his knees. "I... I really thought he would like me... He... m-makes... me happy..."

"Oh... hey... um... I know Honda, and I know he gets embarassed easily... it's not your fault, all right?" Jounouchi smiled at his other self. "He didn't mean anything by it. He's just stupid."

"I... don't think he's stupid at all," Katsuya said. "But... he did call himself an idiot." He averted his gaze in deep thought. "...Does he not want to be with me because he... doesn't like himself...?"

Jounouchi frowned, thinking. "That could be why, but I dunno. Maybe I should talk to him." He looked at his other self and smiled reassuringly. "It ain't you, I can tell you that."

"Really...?" Katsuya leaned a bit closer to his new friend. "Please... don't be mad at Honda, then... I just... want to make him feel better..."
phishschtick: "I won't, I just don't wanna see you sad." Jounouchi grinned in a big-brotherly way and patted Katsuya on the shoulder. "What's a big brother for, anyway? Even if it is, y'know, pretend?"

"Thank you," said Katsuya, smilingly. "I'll let Honda know that he's still in my heart... soon. I don't think I'm ready to talk to him again, yet..."

"No problem," Jou smiled, trying to hold back a yawn. He was tired; he hadn't been able to rest well because of his injuries. But not wanting to hint that to his 'little brother', he stifled it in his hand.

"Are you okay?" asked Katsuya. To him, Jou looked very tired. "Maybe you should get some rest. I think Yuugi is very, very worried about you..."

"Yeah, I'm kinda tired..." Jou leaned his head against the wall behind his bed. "...he is?" He looked at Katsuya inquiringly.

"He's your best friend..." Katsuya put a fist to his heart. "I know he must be terribly worried... I think I shall let you rest. Bye, onii-chan," Katsuya said as he turned and left.
