It seemed like Mana really got herself into trouble, as she was running away from the machine that was called a dryer. "It wants to attack me!!! It wants to kill me!!" She immediately took shelter behind the chair, eeping.

Malik was having a rather bad day. Not only was the infamous Shadow revealed to be someone that he already despised, but there were various other annoyances around the house that fueled his anger. One of which being a certain female houseguest that his sister had oh-so-graciously taken in, and as practically everyone in the city knew, the only girl that Malik ever bothered to tolerate was his sister.

So when he entered the living room, seeing said houseguest behind the chair, Malik rolled his eyes and continued on his merry way to the kitchen pantry.

"Don't touch the dryer of doom. It's bloodthirsty!!" Mana said, with still beign afraid of it. This era was just as confusing as anything was!

Malik blinked. Now, he himself had had some... issues... with the dryer before, but now he was on rather good terms with it; he failed to see what was 'bloodthirsty' about it.

Just to humor Mana, he asked, "what, did it spit out dirty underwear at you?"

"Spit dirty underwear? Oh, Ra no! It's shaking about and...and...and...IT MOVES!" Mana said, with another eep.

Curious, Malik wandered into the laundry room to see this 'shaking and moving' - and he resisted the urge to burst into laughter. The dryer was just sitting there, doing typical dryer-y things, and there Mana was, acting as if it was going to come to life and bite her limbs off at any given moment.

Smirking, he walked back out into the living room. "Hate to break it to you, but ah... that's what dryers do," he said matter-of-factly. Of course, there were plenty of other things that dryers were useful for, but that was beside the point...

Mana then blinked and eeped. "Oh...okay...this era confuses me...." She said, with another pout. "I mean, I have to incorporate technology into my life....agh...." She sighed just a little.

Malik couldn't help but feel a little sorry for her - after all, he'd lived underground for ten years, and it had taken a while for him to get used to modern-day appliances. "Well, yeah," he said, scratching his chin. "A word of advice, though: most big metal things aren't going to hurt you, unless you like... run into them or something." Another smirk.

Mana blinked. "Oh...I see....so, metal is a friend of this world?" She blinked yet again, curiously. "And I should make a friend of this metal?" She said, with another smile.

"Uh... sure," Malik said, scratching his head. "Just don't go sticking forks into toasters or anything. Isis would have a fit if her toaster blew up." Nevermind that most, if not all, metal things were inanimate objects, and wouldn't particularly care if Mana tried to befriend them or not.

"Oh, okay. Why would Aishizu have a fit if her toaster blew up? Does she like toasted grain for some odd reason?" Mana blinked her blue eyes in confusion.

"Oh, yes," Malik said, a devious smirk crossing his face. "Eeeeevery morning she just has to pop a couple of slices of bread into the toaster. Toast is like coffee for that woman; if she doesn't get it, then she's a complete bitch all day," he explained. Well, it was half-true...

"So, I must not use any magic towards the toaster? Or it'll eat me up?" Mana said, with another blink. Oh, this was confusing!!

Malik shook his head. "Nope." He walked into the kitchen. A few moments later, he came back out, holding a fork. "See this? It's a fork. Don't stick these or anything that looks like them into the toaster, either. Forks are for eating things and gouging people's eyeballs out with. Not for plugging toasters up with, oh no. I learned that one the hard way."

"I thought that forks were for eating and not gouging the eyeballs of people out. And, alright. I will respect Toaster-sama." Mana said, with nodding her head.

"Yes. Respect Toaster-sama. For it is all that is wise." Malik pressed the palms of his hands together and bowed in a sage-like manner, proving that he'd seen one too many martial arts films. Now that his train of thought had been thoroughly de-railed, he suddenly remembered what he'd come downstairs to do again - and he walked back into the kitchen, not only to put the fork away, but to find a snack as well.

Mana blinked, and then went along. "All respect Toaster-sama!" Now another god she has to worship--oh, Ra will forgive her--right? "What are you getting?" She blinked just a little.

"Food," Malik answered bluntly. He opened up the fridge, bending over to get a better look inside.

"Carron?" Mana blinked for just a little, walking up and seeing what was in the fridge. "Oh, what is all of this?" She pointed to the food in the fridge.

Malik scooted away a little as Mana walked up next to him. "Well, I think that's some leftover takeout, and there's some mixed vegetables, uh... I don't think I wanna know what that is; it looks like it's growing mold..." He pointed at the various items in the fridge as he named them off. "I don't think there's anything good in here," he said, pouting.

"Oh, well, yesterday I bought some chocolate, cookies and sugar..and your sister purchased Pocky last night, if I recall." Mana said, with another blink.

"Ooh!" Malik squealed, standing upright. Unfortunately, his head was still halfway in the fridge when he did this, so he ended up making a rather loud banging noise as the top of his head hit the fridge ceiling. "OW! MOTHER OF... graaaaah," he groaned, rubbing the sore spot on his head - which, coincidentially, was the same place that Anzu had hit him with the crowbar a few weeks before...

"Um..." Mana used some of the magic Mahaado taught her and then healed his sore spot on his head. "Does that make you feel better?" She blinked a little.

"...oi?" Malik blinked and rubbed the spot on his head again, finding that it - as well as the headache he'd had beforehand - was now gone. He looked at Mana, shutting the fridge door. Maybe this girl wasn't so bad after all. "Uh, yeah, it's better. Thanks, I guess." Now that that was settled, POCKY! Isis had picked up Pocky, yay. He walked over to the pantry, opening it.

Mana smiled brightly. "You are most welcomed!" She said, with yet another bright chipper smile. "May I try some of this Pocky, please?" She blinked a little.

Malik opened up a box - strawberry, of course - and plucked a few sticks out, handing them to Mana. Normally, he wouldn't share his Pocky with anyone save for Ryou or Yami, but he figured Mana deserved some form of thanks for getting rid of his massive headache. "Here."

"Thank you!" Mana said, with putting one stick in her mouth, and then chewed it. "This is simply divine!" She said, with a bright smile.

"Well, 'divine' isn't the word I'd normally use, but it is some damn good stuff," Malik said, munching on a few sticks himself. His bad mood was virtually nonexistant by now, and he could feel the beginnings of a sugar rush coming on.

Mana amazingly finished it all, as she bounced around. "OH, YUMMY!" With another bright and chipper smile on her face.

Malik made some noise resembling a giggle as he proceeded to eat half of the box. "Man, I shouldn't be this hyper at this time of night!" he said, pouting. But, he was, and by the looks of it, Mana was too. Oh goody, now he wasn't the only one who looked at sugar as an alternative to crack.

Mana smiled again. "I'm always hyper, so welcome to my world!!!" She said, with another smile, as she munched on some of her cookies that she bought.

"Always hyper?" Malik mumbled around a stick of Pocky. "Wow. Do you eat like straight sugar or something?"

"Well, as I haven't found anything pertaining to my liking, I suppose." She said, with another blink.

"Er... 'kay." Malik blinked, finishing off the box. "So... does this mean you haven't tried ice cream yet?"

"Nope, Atemu-sama told me it tastes really good with ketchup." Mana blinked again in confusion.

Malik raised an eyebrow. Considered. Grimaced. "Ew," he said, wrinkling his nose. "No, I don't think that quite works..."

"Why?" She blinked again, while finishing her twentieth cookie.

"Well, let's see," Malik said, inwardly eyeing Mana's cookies. "For one thing, tomatoes are best used in sauces that go with vegetables and stuff, and ice cream is flavored with fruits and chocolate and stuff. And from what I understand, tomatoes don't taste very good with that kind of stuff."

"Oh...may I try some 'ice cream'?" Mana blinked again. She was curious as to of trying out new foods!

Malik nodded, reaching into one of the cupboards for a couple of bowls. Hyper as he was already, ice cream sounded pretty good right then. He opened the freezer, took out a large carton of strawberry ice cream, and then proceeded to scoop it into the two bowls. Handing one bowl - and a spoon - to Mana, he said, "it's supposed to be cold, so don't be surprised if it is... or something." That said, he dug in to his own bowl.

"Alright..." Mana took the spoon and put it into her mouth. "It is cold...if it's meant to be that way, then that's alright!" She said, with another bright smile, munching away on it.

Malik grinned as he ate his own ice cream. Yeah, there was a definite sugar rush coming on.

"Is there a sugar rush going on?!" Mana said, with another bright smile on her face.

"Mmhmm!" Malik muttered, nodding energetically.

"Yaay! Are you sure we won't wake up anyone?!" She said, with another smile.

"Nah. Once Isis is asleep, she's waaaay asleep. And Ryou and Bakura are both gone, so yeah, we won't wake anybody up," Malik said around a mouthful of ice cream.

"YAY." Mana said, with a bright smile, raiding the pantry and then she took everything that seemed sugary.

Malik pouted a little. "Hey, save some for later," he said. "If we eat everything now, then there won't be anything until Isis goes shopping again."

"Oh...okay...what do you want to put away?" She looked at him, still smiling.

"Well, those things aren't sweet at all," he said, pointing to a box of cheese-flavored crackers, "and put back some of that Pocky. Last time someone grabbed my whole stash, they ate it all and I was without it for like a week..." Yet another thing he disliked Mokuba for. "And that cereal? It's for breakfast, so we gotta save that..."

"Oh, okay." She put back everything that he told her to put away. "You know, you're a lot nicer than I thought you would be." She smiled brightly.

Malik blinked. "I am?" He wasn't sure whether to take that as a compliment or not.

"Yep!" She said, with a bouncy smile.

"Uhhhh... thanks, I think," Malik said, grinning awkwardly. "What, did Isis tell you I was gonna bite your head off, or something?"

"She told me that you can get quite odd at times when you eat sugar." She said, with a bright smile.

"Oh." Well, that was a typical Isis complaint; Malik wasn't surprised at all.

"Though, that does not really concern me at all!" She said, with a small smile. "This world deserves to be more hyper!"

Malik nodded. "Yeah, there's been too much angst and drama going on lately," he said, frowning. "Did anyone tell you about some guy named 'Shadow' breaking in, stealing things, and attacking people?"

"I have read scribes about this 'Shadow', but I see as it was Mokuba." She said, with another blink.

"Yeah..." Malik's right eye twitched a little at the mention of Mokuba. "A lot of people were hurt by him, but he apparently didn't even know he was doing all of that stuff. Something about drugged cookies."

"Oh...I see." Mana said, with another blink. "Who was hurt by him?" She said, with tilting her head.

Where to begin... "Well, let's see here. Me, Ryou, Bakura, Isis, Rishid, the other me, his special friend, the other you, Kaiba, Honda, both Jounouchis, both Siegfrieds, Anzu, Siegfried's little brother... and some other people, but I think that's it our of most of us that know each other." Malik ticked off the names on his fingers, and when he was done, he crossed his arms, lightly touching the stitched-up wound on his arm.

Mana's mouth dropped. "That's a lot of people....oh, wait...Priest Mahaado told me that Rishid was a kind hearted fellow." And, that's when she saw his stitched-up wound. "I'm not that amazing in healing wounds like those, but I can try!"

Malik looked at said wound, and decided not to mention the one on his hip. "Nah, it's okay. It's almost healed up. In fact, I get the stitches out sometime this weekend..."

"Oh, I see." Mana said, with a bright smile on her face. "So, do you want to teach me about anymore technological things?" She said, with a blink.

"Sure, I guess," Malik answered, scratching his head. He figured that while she was here, he might as well help her out with some of the things in this era. "Anything in particular you wanna know about?"

"Well, that washing machine. I want to know how to use it." Mana said, with a blink. "And that dryer you were talking about."

"Uh, okay." Malik walked out of the kitchen and into the laundry room, looking around for any clothes that might need washing. He placed a hand on the washing machine. "This thing is used for if your clothes get too dirty and start to smell funky." He opened the lid of the washer and picked up a pile of dirty clothes, stuffing them inside. Malik then looked around the small room, finally spotting a box of detergent and a measuring cup; he grabbed them and measured out a cupful of detergent. "Pour out this much detergent and put it in with the clothes. Any more of that, and uh... bubbles will flood the room," he explained, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. He'd also learned that the hard way.

Mana nodded, taking mental notes. She then said. "Oh, okay, I see." She said, with another smile on her face.

Malik dumped the detergent into the washer, closed the lid, and hit a couple of buttons; the machine whirred to life. "After a while, it'll go 'ding', and then you just take the wet clothes out and put them in the dryer, push the button, and it'll dry them."

"Oh, okay! I get it now!" Mana said, with another bright and cheery smiles. "Now that showerthing. I thought that it'd be easier to take a bath with milk."

If Malik had been drinking something, it would've made for a really great spit-take. Unfortunately, he wasn't, so he almost went into a giggle-induced seizure at the mention of a 'milk bath'. Of course, he'd never be able to stop taking things out of context. "Ahh, okay," he managed to choke out after a couple of minutes, "shower-thing... just turn the knobs until you get the right temperature, pretty much. It works the same way as the sink, but it's a lot bigger."

"Oh, I see." Mana said, with another nod. "I thought that the shower head in the shower was just another thing out to attack me." She blinked a little.

"Nah. Sometimes it gets loose and falls off, but other than that, it's pretty safe..." Malik had learned a lot of things the hard way. Such was the curse of being blonde...

"Ohh..." Mana said, with another smile on her face. "I got it." She said, with another smile. "And that object called an oven...I remember they used kilns back then."

"Hmm..." Malik bit his lip, leaning against the washing machine. "It works basically the same way as a kiln, except you turn knobs to a certain temperature instead of load it up with wood or coal or whatever they used back then."

"Oh, I see..." She blinked again and then nodded. "This time era's confusing. And, what about that big horse you have?" She tilted her head. "The one with the wheels."

"Big... horse... wheels...?" Malik blinked, confused. "Ohhh. You mean my motorbike, or Isis' car? Isis said she explained the car thing to you last night..."

"The motorbike thingie." She blinked again, and then smiled a little.

Malik grinned. "It's another mode of transportation. Easier to operate than a car is. And it's much sexier than a car, too." He just had to gloat about his pride-and-joy.

"Oh...so, what should I use for transporatation, then?" She said, with another blink.

"Well, a lot of people take the bus nowadays, if they can't drive or something. That's like a car, except it holds a lot more people. Or you can take a taxi cab, you have to pay the driver, but just tell him where to go and he'll take you there..." Malik looked up at the ceiling in contemplation. "And since Shadow's been caught, it's a lot safer to just walk places now, too."

"Oh, with gold?" Mana said, with taking out some of the ancient money she had in her pocket.

Malik blinked at the gold in Mana's hand. "Well, I don't think you could pay directly with that, but I bet you'd get a lot of modern cash with it if you sold it to an antiques shop or something..."

"Oh, I see..." Mana said, with another bright smile. "Thank you!!" She said, with a bright smile.

Malik smirked, holding back a slight yawn. "No problem."

"Now I know more about this era than ever. All thanks to you!" She said, with another bright smile.

"That's pretty much just the basics," Malik said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "Isis and I really only learned this stuff recently. You might wanna talk to Ryou some when he gets back from his vacation, he knows a lot more than me and Isis do..."

"Oh...okay, I see." She said, with a blink. "Is Ryou that really creepy guy who wanted to tear my intestines out?" She asked, with another blink.

Blink blink. "... No, I think that might be his other self," Malik said, still blinking. The thought of his Ryou ripping out peoples' intestines was absurd. "The Ryou that lives here is really sweet. I'm sure he wouldn't mind telling you about more modern stuff."

"Oh...I see." Mana nodded. "I can't wait to meet him, then!" She said, with another bright smile on her face. "In fact, I can't wait to meet anyone else!"

"Hm. Well, there should be a lot of people out tomorrow, since it's a Saturday and all, especially without the threat of Shadow keeping people off the streets..." Now Malik wouldn't have to worry about anyone else that he cared about getting hurt anymore. "I bet if you just go out walking around, you'll run into somebody. It usually happens that way."

"Okay! If anyone, do I need to worry about anyone?" She said, with another blink on her eyes.

Malik thought for a moment. "... Not that I can really think of off the top of my head. If you run into a a dumb brunette ranting about 'God' and plotting my untimely demise, I'd stay away from her. But other than that..."

"Oh, okay. Wait, is it that other Teana?" She said with a blink of her eyes. She was confused!

"... Yeah, though most people call her Anzu. I personally call her biblehumper, but yeah."

"Oh, and what about that other other Teana?" She said, with another blink of her eyes. "The one who came in reallly late."

"I don't think she'll be anything to worry about," Malik said. "From what I've seen, at least."

"Oh, okay. So, that gives me a brief list of who to avoid and who to make friends with, thank you oh so much, Malik!" She said, with a smile.

"Some people might be less... eager to be friends than others," Malik warned. "Just so you know. Not that they're particularly dangerous or anything, just that they think they're so high-and-mighty that they can't pay attention to anyone but a select few."

"Oh...like that reincarnation of High Priest Seth?" She said, with scratching her head a little.

Malik nodded. "Yeah, him and a pink-haired guy that acts a lot like him. The other pink-haired one is pretty nice, if not a little withdrawn, but yeah, Kaiba can be a pain at times."

"Oh...wait...man!Utena?" Mana said, with a little blink.

"... Er, yeah." Malik blinked at the terminology - it was similar to the term that the borderline-psychotic!Anzu had used.

"Oh, I see. It'll be major fun to see what kind of friends I can make!" She said, with a bright smile.

Malik smirked a bit, walking out of the laundry room. If the washing mashine happened to quit, Isis would take care of it in the morning. He walked out into the living room, sitting down on the couch; his sugar rush has long since worn off, and he was now rather tired. "There's a lot of different people in this city. Should you happen to make a lot of friends, it'll be a pretty big variety of them."

"Oh, okay! Sort of what Mahaado-sama told me!" She said, with another smile on her face. "If you want to retire upstairs, I will understand."

"Yeah, I think I'm gonna do that now," Malik said, standing up again as he stifled another yawn. "If you wanna know anything else, ask me or Isis, I guess." Malik had to admit - for a girl, Mana wasn't half-bad.

"Okay, Malik-kun!" Mana said, with another smile, saying goodnight in Egyptian.

"...heh." Malik said goodnight back, before heading up the stairs. It had been a pretty long day; sleep sounded quite good right now.

And that's when Mana finally went to sleep on the couch, covering herself with the blanket.
